FIRST AID REFRESHER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT), AND TREATING LOWER JIAO/LIMBS With Alex Brazkiewicz Saturday 15th November (in-person only) 9.30am – 1pm: First Aid Refresher / Basic Life Support: The morning session will provide us with a refresher of basic First Aid subjects and is designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals in a clinical environment, helping us to keep our First Aid skills and knowledge up to date. Course covers: - Unconscious casualty - CPR - Defibrillator training - Choking - Medical conditions 2pm – 5pm (approx): Treating lower jiao/limb conditions: “WHERE THE PAIN IS, THE PROBLEM IS NOT” Ida Rolf During this half-day MSK CPD session, we will be looking at some common orthopaedic problems of the lower jiao/limbs and how often the musculoskeletal condition the patient presents with may not be the causal location and just treating symptomatically may lead to limited results. By integration of some basic structural diagnosis and orthopaedic testing with palpation skills, channel/point palpation for channel differentiation and an application of applied channel theory, this short session hopes to add to your toolbox ways of getting to the underlying cause of some common presenting MSK conditions of the lower jiao/limbs and then offer some effective treatment strategies. Venue: Nine Springs Natural Health Centre, 70 Hendford, Yeovil BA20 1UR Refreshments provided but please bring your own lunch Cost: £50 for each separate half-day, or £90 for the whole day together Alex Brazkiewicz is a (recently) retired Paramedic but also a Traditional Acupuncture and Tuina practitioner, an Osteopath, a Japanese martial arts practitioner and a Yoga teacher. He has a special interest in orthopaedic conditions. He originally studied Shiatsu initially with Chris Jarmey in the 1990’s, and qualified in acupuncture from The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in 2007. He studied Applied Channel Theory extensively (between 2009 and 2014) with Prof Wang Ju Yi and Jason Robertson (Authors of Applied Channel Theory) both in China and Europe. After his last month-long study trip to Beijing in 2014 where he also completed an internship at the Beijing Massage Hospital, he returned to undertake a degree in Osteopathy. He also studied orthopaedic acupuncture with Phil McQueen and completed his post-graduate diploma in Gua Sha with Arya Nielsen. He currently runs a busy integrated practice in Malvern (Worcestershire) and Winchcombe (Gloucestershire).
